Winter guard is a select competitive group that performs during the winter season. All middle/high school students in good standing are eligible to audition. Winter guard belongs to two competitive circuits. One circuit is local and the other is international. Our season begins in mid-November and lasts till mid-April. The performance schedule includes up to 15 adjudicated performances and exhibitions.
Rehearsals usually occur two to three times during the week in the evening, with weekend rehearsals scheduled as needed. Competitions fall on Saturdays and Sundays and will begin in late January/early February. Attendance is critical to the success of this group, and students must agree to participate for the entire season in order to be considered for membership. There will be a guard clinic and audition process at the conclusion of Fall Marching Band. There is an additional fee required for participation in Winter Guard which is due at the end of January.
Hamilton also offers a Junior Guard Program open to all students in 5th to 8th grade in good academic standing. This group practices once or twice a week and will eventually be performing at local shows. An additional fee will be required for participation which is due at the end of January.
